Tesla’s Shine is Lost Among Diehard Fans Following Elon Musk’s Takeover

  • Some former Tesla fans have lost interest in the brand after Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover.
  • Some people even post on Twitter that they trade in their vehicles.
  • Morgan Stanley reports that investors have shown a decrease in their sentiment towards Tesla since Musk’s tweet deal.

Tesla fans are less enthusiastic about Tesla’s EV company after Elon Musk’s Twitter purchase.

Many of them are venting their frustrations in tweets that include the hashtag #nevertesla to show they have abandoned Tesla.

After watching the antics of Twitter billionaire, some drivers claim they have traded in their Teslas.

One said: “I drive an @Tesla with @TeslaSolar to power my home. We’ve also bought a @Polestar, and we have another on order every day @elonmusk Makes me happy to see that we are moving on from his products. #nevertesla.”

You’ll find many similar sentiments when you scroll through #nevertesla.

Others, who appear not to be particularly fond of Musk, also use the hashtag. “I am looking for an electric car that will replace my 6y old sedan.” another user said. “More i see” @elonmusk While I don’t like fascists and whine here, the closer I get to buying a Tesla, the less I will be aligned. #NeverTesla #MuskIsATroll.”

Morgan Stanley’s survey also found that investors have been less favorable to Tesla in recent months.

Nearly 65% of respondents to the survey said Musk’s Twitter dramas would have a “negative or slightly negative effect on Tesla’s business moving forward.” Morgan Stanley warned Monday that there could be a decline in consumer sentiment and demand.

Tesla drivers also claim they face aggression on the roads. Axios reported that Tesla drivers in Iowa were being “routinely heckled”, cut off from traffic and prevented from charging at stations. According to Axios, many Tesla drivers blamed Musk’s behavior and the news cycle during the three months prior to his purchase of Twitter.

Guardian also interviewed Tesla drivers who were subject to abusive remarks. The Guardian reported that the comments were more likely a result people hating EVs than Musk.

Paul Albertson from Tesla told the news outlet that some drivers would swerve in his lane and yell at him, or switch on a heavy diesel exhaust that emits black smoke.

Insider reached Tesla for comment, but did no immediate receive a response.
